I believe that exclusively dating someone means that one should be loyal and faithful. If you want to be open to other prospects then you should openly date and not commit yourself to being 'exclusive' with someone.

I agree with you mini-me. If you choose to exclusively date one person, your loyalty to him/her is your choice, but they too have a choice.
Let's say the object of your affection was all you've dreamed of, yet he for whatever reason wants to keep his options open - but still spend time with you on the regular. Would you be willing to expand your horizons and see other people while enjoying the time you share with him? Or would you end that connection?
